Will There Be a Second Season? Here’s What the Cast Says

While a WandaVision Season 2 seems impossible at this point in time, as the finale was titled “The Series Finale” to mark an end to the story, it actually wouldn’t be out of the blue if Marvel Studios decided to write a second season. Here’s everything we know about it so far and what the cast says about this hot topic!

When would season 2 be released?

Since Elizabeth Olsen is currently filming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (actually, they just wrapped up the filming, so she’s on a break for now), a second season of WandaVision shouldn’t be expected to come in early or mid-2022 at the least. Possible release slots could be late 2022 or anytime in 2023 – however, even this is unlikely. Why do we say this if we’re big fans of the show?

Well, the MCU really doesn’t want to cram their schedule. One thing nearly per month (Loki in June, Black Widow in July, Shang-Chi in September, Eternals in November, Spider-Man in December) is already a lot! There’s a good chance our Marvel movie watchlist will already be pretty long by the time WandaVision season 2 is released.

What does the cast say?

Before proceeding, we must hear from Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, and even Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to see what they’re saying about a possible WandaVision season 2.

“I’ve been at Marvel too long to say a definite “No” to anything as far as a second season of WandaVision,” said Feige during an interview. So now we know that the boss is clearly not closing the door on possibilities. I bet he loved and enjoyed the series (and its success) as much as we did…

And actress Elizabeth Olsen added to the high chance of a Season 2: “It could [have a second season],” she also admitted to the press. She isn’t saying no to anything either! It’s still a positive response to the question, as all of us are hoping for a continuation of the mysterious WandaVision, but the vagueness makes us quite unsure of the show’s future. So could it actually happen? Next, we’re passing the inquiry to the one and only Paul Bettany!

“There is so much to get into with [Vision] because it’s been 10 minutes here, 10 minutes there, in the movies. Now we’re sort of just starting to peel back some stuff,” Bettany said to Elle magazine. What could this mean? It’s most likely that Paul’s teasing a future for his character that has obviously not yet been confirmed, but like Lizzie and Feige, he’s not leaving WandaVision season 2 out of the question. It. Is. Possible.

Why not: Doctor Strange 2 could already fill in the gap

What has been confirmed is that WandaVision has already been set to directly tie in with Doctor Strange’s sequel (and as we said, Olsen has just finished filming the movie), Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. So why could WandaVision actually not have a second season? It could be because Doctor Strange 2 would already fill in that gap, answer all our questions, and finish the Scarlet Witch’s story in a suitable manner.

Despite this, it wouldn’t be strange at all to see a WandaVision season 2 pop out later and a surprise confirmation from the writers! We still have hope…

Season 2 may mainly focus on Billy & Tommy

Although this may seem awkward, it isn’t out of the picture that Wanda and Vision’s twin sons, Billy and Tommy, could become the new main characters of WandaVision season 2 rather than their parents. But the title of the show obviously states that it would be focused on Wanda and Vision! The kids were only “side” main characters!

Although many of us would miss the unusual humor of the Maximoff couple, Wanda and Vision have parted ways: Wanda studies the Darkhold in hiding to control her powers while Vision has seemingly disintegrated and goes bye-bye for now. But what about their kids? Even though they also disappeared when the Hex collapsed, they did call out to Wanda in the finale’s post-credits scene, meaning they must be still alive somewhere.

And young Billy and Tommy are set to have a superhero future, as said in the Young Avengers comics. Billy becomes a telepathy master named Wiccan while his twin brother is named “Speed” obviously because he has super speed. So, could they have used their powers to survive their disintegration in the Hex? We’re not exactly sure. Their comic story went differently: they started to glitch out before they were reabsorbed by the naked red-skinned guy, Mephisto, as fragments of his soul.

It has already become clear that the MCU isn’t interested in such a dark (and creepy, by the way!) future for adorable little Billy and Tommy. Either they stay in WandaVision to pave the way as the second season’s heroes, or move on to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness if the two child actors will agree. Whichever one the cast chooses, we will be ready…
